SS: Samal at Sunset 02.15.23

 Samal is an Island Resort in Southern Ph surrounded by warm tropical seas & blessed with white sands. The Island is a statement of contradiction. Tourists pay top rate to enjoy its villas and rooms kissed by the sea while local residents endure strict rationing of water supply. Also, the Island is a producer of  one of the best pearl farms in the country. The pearl products, however. are not available locally in the Island. A major disappointment for this writer! Back to visual arts: The painting was done in plein air at the end of a long day which started with after midnight van ride from my hometown to Manila Airport to catch an early 2 hour flight to a major Southern Ph city. We took a 15 minute ferry ride, van included, to the Samal Island garden resort. We visited my cousin's house for seafood lunch & helped organize our family reunion this coming Saturday After we checked in at late afternoon at the Villa Amparo, I painted one of  the extended dining mini piers, during a strong breeze & with limited painting supply. I missed my Watercolor Rinsing Well!
