No class for me….


It’s a family weekend for me, celebrating Joe’s birthday with everyone at our house, so no time for art. These are my two bowls of shallots. The first is the one I posted last week,  after takin the advice to add more color. The second one I’m still working on, trying to avoid local color to see what happens. See you all next week if there’s a class still….

    Sara, those shallots are beautiful! The colors and shapes really work well--and such a nice use of highlights. The first one feels very Renaissance with the glowing subject coming out of the dark background and the second has such a good use of complements. I have to re-read that book! Oh, and by the way, you should have brought Joe to class--we could have done his birthday portrait! Or, if you were in a hurry, he could have just posed for the 5 min warmups. Anyway, we missed you.

    We did miss you and you did the shallots proud. Why don’t we all do more still lifes.

    There is a class this Saturday and then two weeks off. I could use still more color in the shallots even if you have to make them up. I don't know what you mean by local color.
