Hmm...having seen these in person, I have to say the color balance seems off. The background is much richer than it appears here. Also his skin is warmer and more "real" with the background, even though it doesn't seem so on line. In real life, this is a sweet little portrait that has been enhanced by the background. Not sure what happened with the photo. As for painting blondes, I find them a bit tricky too!
Wow, these look like two different portraits. So interesting howthebackground makes his shirt and skin look more sallow. Are they two different portraits? I notice his shoulder is narrower in the second one….
Yeah, when I saw this portrait in class it look stunning. The green shade you had mixed for the background really set up the glow of his skin tones. It must be the photography or the computer...
