This is a 180 degree flip from the way I was thinking about it until Saturday's session. When I cleared out the bottom veins they looked like roots to me, and the greenish ones on top looked like plants growing out of the soil. Not that it matters much because it's really just paint on paper.
Okay, I can see it with this orientation. That lovely turquoise looks like a glowing sky--and I'm buying the roots/shoots story. All in all, I like this!
