Alan Fall 6

Finished my limited alley series. Here they are in directional order.

West

East

South

And North

The last one is done on canvas treated with Gesso and then adding clumps and swirls of Gesso where the trees and garbage cans are. It’s only 6 X 8 but I can think it packs a punch.

I finished my non-representational painting by feeling that it was finished.

I did another one in alcohol ink on Yupo. I love the vibrancy of the colors. Would make an interesting cloud.

Back to regular cold press, I’m trying to do this city scene that I’m so familiar with having spent 40 years working in the loop. A lot of lines using yardsticks, rulers, and a flowcharting template from my downtown days but now we’re painting (the fun part).

A lot of work to do yet but I think I’m on the right track.

  1. Love the canvas painting—in fact, I like the whole alley series. You should frame and display them around a "You Are Here" pin marker. I also like the cityscape. The light, sign and trestle are great—as is the composition. It's going to be good!

  2. The alleys are great. The last one feels like home. Non rep is good, lots to see in it.

  3. The alley series is great. Especially like the bricks and that very neat garage interior. The city study is almost an abstract but clearly representational. I love when paintings cross that line!

  4. Why limit your alley series? They are decidedly great and your public wants even more! Like to see where you might go with more non-representational work too. Maybe you could find out who the artist/photographer is from your doctor's office and see more of his/her work...The one you're working on sure is interesting.
