Nothing to Write Home About….
I wasn’t inspired to do anything to yesterday’s still life, but now I admit it looks a little unfinished…I was thinking about adding part of a hat in the lower left or something behind that glass…maybe the hand of fate at Pat suggested…I painted another “moody inside, riot of color outside “ scene…those blue chairs are kind of distracting…they could come down a few pegs…

I like the big martini glass and the way you let your paint go wild. Maybe that green bottle could have used a little of the wildness. The umbrella is nicely rendered but out of place but I reckon there were no baguettes around at the time. I would like that wall to be considerably darker and, and, wait a minute. Who is that lurking on the far left side.
ReplyDeleteThose shadows are stunning...and so is the blue glass. I'm not sure what you could add, but I see what you mean about the lower left. There are some pencil marks there that suggest shadows, so maybe add a shadow of something out of the picture? I just noticed the ghostly figure in your interior--intriguing! Maybe add a touch of the blue to the figure...actually to all the inside to unify it into a blue grey neutral and frame the view with that? Or just ignore me...I seem to be brimming with not-fully-baked "what if" suggestions today!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great still life, if I do say so myself. Interesting that most things go off the edge. Maybe a few more items can be added that do the same. Especially on the left side. Painterly. And another mystery indoor painting looking out. Luv the figure almost blending into the walls. Reminds me of those interiors by Bonnard and/or Vulliard with decoratively dressed women merged into the wallpaper. Anyway, it looks like some balancing needs to happen within the interior - the blue furniture and the mystery women.
ReplyDeleteI don’t know. I like the strong blue chairs. You’re “getting drunk on a rainy day “ still life just doesn’t hang together for me, but I do like the individual pieces.
