I gave Alan a little more hair. I’m generous that way.
I thought the Lion finished. Now on the photo, I see a few issues. I’ve worked with gouache before but only to touch things up. I actually had to create shapes with it on this one and it required me putting my brush right into the tube. Lion pic is 10-1/2 x 13-3/4 looks small in photo next to Alan and he’s only 8x8.
These are both wonderful. That lion is so proud and muscular--and I applaud your choice to keep the background from stealing focus from your subject. Love the Artists at Work series and this painting is no exception. Alan must be amazed at your generosity! He does look good--and very hirsute!
ReplyDeleteYou've really been painting away, Greeta. It's going to look great seeing all the Artist's at Work together as a series. The lion painting looks complete and not overdone. Although the color looks browned down on the computer screen. I know it's not in person.
ReplyDeleteIt does look a little brown, now that Pat mentions it. Maybe an incandescent bulb? Very well done. Like the way the pereylon green of the lions sticks out against the lightness of the background. Just the right amount of background on the right side.
