It's great to be back painting in a group! Like many of us this new year, I'm trying to get back into my painting groove. Here's a view of my alley with a trumpet vine breaking through the cracks of two fences. This is basically a study to work out composition and colors. I still have a weathered wood fence, along with the aforementioned flowering vine, going into that great white void.

  1. Neighborhoods, old houses I just love them. I love to see their weathered faces summer, fall, winter, spring, as the Brown Line cruises me down to the Ten Cat. Next we will see if those trumpets upstage the background. Will the background strike back once the trumpets strike?
    Hey, are those grid lines?

    1. Yes, they are grid lines! When I'm doing a rough sketch, I usually start with at least quartering. Sadly, these are a little dark and I don't think I'll be able to erase them. But grid lines don't usually bother me, so that's okay.
