#8 and 9. The Bathers confuses me. Who are those 2 small figures looking at the sky? I keep thinking some are earthly bathers and some are spirits. And why does Cezanne’s father wear a little cap indoors?
I really like the interaction between the viewers and the paintings. She looks like she wants to read the headline on Papa's newspaper and he is slouching like he can't make hide or hair out of those stoopid bathers.
This is such a cool series. Even more than the last one, this really explores the art/viewer dynamic. You can just feel how quizical the #9 fellow is. And you can see the woman in the linen pants reading the description. Also, your versions of the Cezanne are spot on!
I looked at the bathers a long time before I saw those two little ones. I think there’s some sort of celestial occurrence that’s caught their attention. And he’s wearing a nightcap because it was cold in those drafty old buildings!
