Gilt-headed bream 2

I noticed this morning that when I put in the tiles I made them to small and the mortar way too big, and now I am going back over making the tiles bigger and the mortar darker, and this fish still has a long way to go.

Say those images Susan sent.  Would it be ok if I put them up on the blog?

  1. Sure, if it's okay with her. I sent Susan a new author invite so she can post... in case she missed the first one.

Now, about the fish... is this the first one? It's called 2, so I wondered. I agree about Roman mosaics having very tight fitting tiles and not a lot of grout, so you're on the right course ther . What are you planning for the background? I'm anxious to see!

    1. It's still the first one. You are right I usually just number them, but I'm not sure if they're all going to be from that image, or all fish, or all mosaics. The background is going to be water, different shades of blue, but not sure what the tiles will be like, wavy, square, irregular, big chunks. I don't know.

  2. I like the colors you're using. The dash of violet really makes it vibrant!

  3. Yeah, looks good where you went back in and made it more dense along the fins. Much more colorful and dimensional, I think. Are you going to use the original mosaic image for the background flow? The darkened area underneath the fish was interesting where you couldn't tell if it was its shadow or maybe an eel or something? We all wait with baited breath.
