Spring flowers….

Two versions of the same setup. I prefer the top one, which was actually my second attempt.

A lot of inspiration in the garden these days.the bottom two are quick studies in my sketchbook. The top one is 11x15.

  1. I think you have the pencil and paint playing nicely in 3 and 5, like the jaunty tilt in 3. Is 1, the one we saw in class? Pencil marks seemed deeper than in the photo. Flowers look like birds squabbling over seeds in 5.

  2. Flowers are definitely your thing! All of these have the softness and delicacy that characterize flowers. I like the top version better myself--the subject is less weighty and there's nothing distracting from the subject. The star of the week is the middle painting with the flowers against the gazing globe. The composition is superb and the colors beautiful. Although, maybe the pink flowering tree is the star of the week....again, great composition and colors. That last one is so alive--it has the feel of three old women comfortably chatting. A stellar week all around!

  3. Like the petals on the top flower. The sketch of the flowering tree through the window intrigues me. The way the branches realistically fade out is really interesting.

  4. Yes, the top flower painting is the one, just beautiful in her solo presentation. The globe amidst the garden flowers already looks inspired. The pinkish tree beyond the vertical bars is sublime. And the fighting flowers are mighty fine.
