I've been fascinated by backlighting lately (and Paris). This paper has reached its limit, though, so I'm calling this study done and moving on to another version. What I do like and plan to incorporate in the final are the hands, the inside/outside contrast, and the light on the jacket shoulder edge.

It’s a shame that you just can’t transpose that great building onto you next adventure. I’m getting a sense of that now.
ReplyDeleteAnd of course I would like to see it bigger, monumental if that is not too much trouble.
ReplyDeleteOh, I think you should also include (besides the hands, the inside/outside contrast, and the light on the jacket shoulder edge) Dave's head. You are such a brave painter, Elaine. Can't wait to see the new and improved version.
ReplyDeleteI really like this. You got the inside/9outside contrast just right. Maybe the window frame is a little too strong in color and competes with Dave a bit for attention. A more neutral color would allow you to play up shadows on the window frame or would make them more noticeable . I just wish Dave looked a little happier…he’s in Paris for god’s sakes!!
