I drew this self portrait back in 2016 and found it last week when I was going thru old art stuff. I started painting it in last weeks class, using a current photo of myself for color reference. I’ve been working on it this week at home. Not sure if it’s done, but I’ve got to sit with it a while…
You look a little sad, but it's pre-retirement and pre-grandchildren, right? That would explain that. Anyway, I like the hair changes. And the background is exactly what a good background should be to tell more about the sitter. I think you're done...or very close to it. If anything, maybe add a bit vibrancy or value contrast to the face--but not much and only if you really feel it isn't finished.
