Narcissus Bulb Inside The Box

Given a bulb with the suggestion to paint it every day. Still using the little cardboard “stage” and book light, it surprised me to see how interesting one little bulb could be.

I’d like to post in the order painted, but the blog does what it does. Eventually, the bulb will be moved from the water and pea gravel bed to a real pot and hopefully a paper white narcissus will emerge. Bet you can’t wait.

As predicted, all out of order. The red background should be last.

  1. Interesting idea! I have a potted amaryllis bulb that’s predictably late, just showing a little green tongue this week. Maybe I should paint it every week. Nice study of working with browns and grays - especially like the last two in this ordering …

  2. If you put them in one at a time you can put them in order, but blogspot does have some strange ideas of where things should go when you put them all in at once and then try to move them around.

I can't make out what half of them are, but that is good because then I am not distracted from looking at the paint. Counting from the red one I like 2, 6, 7, 8, and 9. Maybe 9 the best. Look at that paint!

  3. What a good idea! Especially since your setup emphasizes the shadows and throws the subject into such clear focus. You've got such beautiful neutrals!
