I'm ending the year with another in the Relationship series, a look back at a brother and sister at his kindergarten graduation. This is just a study, mostly for color and composition, before I launch into the real thing. It just makes me smile, though...don't we all have old snapshots like this?

Have a wonderful holiday season!
You too!!! I too have photos like this but mine are all in black and white. I particularly like the car. This has a great feel as it is. I can see a fun (and artistic) series in this.
ReplyDeleteMy photos are black and white, too! It's my memories that are color (and these colors aren't even the colors I remember at all!).
DeleteThis is adorable. I think the little girl is you. The teacher of my first watercolor class was doing a series of paintings based on old photos of people in front of cars.
ReplyDeleteClose! It's my sister, so there's a family resemblance. That would be an interesting series. It's an iconic pose—people in front of 40s, 50s and 60s cars. I think everyone has them in their photo albums!
DeleteWhenever I see a photo or a movie from that period my attention always goes to the cars.
DeleteLove all the elements in this, the block across the street, the teal car, the kids with their expressions. Maybe one of those narrow sidewalks that cross the parkway between curb and main sidewalk to break up the green and continue the sense of depth.
DeleteWhat a good idea! Thanks.
DeleteI just love the way it’s painted…it has a great watercolor feel, especially the car.
