The Artist at Work

From my current seat, this is a frequent view. Hair needs a little fix and I’d like to make that left hand less like a boneless chicken breast. I like this. Thought it would be immediately recognized…..but it wasn’t.

And onto a Chicago scene. A small preliminary work up from a photo taken by my daughter.

  1. Ha! I recognize that shirt--it's one of my favorites! Very brave of you painting black clothing and don't I look intense? Seriously, I'm so flattered! Also can't wait to see the final of the lion. They are so iconic, and I love that you're including the festive bow.

  2. I knew it was Elaine at first glance. I mean, that deep concentration, who else could it be? Not to mention her distinctive shirt and, of course, that luxurious hair. I see a series coming, Greeta. You know, like your people looking at paintings at the museum. Only now it'll be the painters at work.

    1. Oh no, don’t tell me I’m going to have to dress and comb my hair for art class…

  3. That's out Lainy ain't it hard at work. The lion is lacking that gravitas of the bookends. But then this is just a sketch. I suggest putting him in first and letting the background flow from his imposing presence.
