Good morning Louisville

Not sure what enamored me so much about this view from a friend’s guest bedroom in Louisville, but something did, enough so that I did 4 studies. The top two are 5x 7, the bottom one 8x10 and the horizontal 11x15.I like the first one best, as it shows the pinkish sky I was initially attracted to. I  may try it on better paper. They were all painted with a triad of red, blue, yellow.

  1. I love the venetian blinds! I love views through windows and this adds yet another layer. All the studies have something different to commend them. I'm especially fond of the horizontal composition where we're peering out at the light view from a darkened room. And it's so cool to see all the colors you can get from a basic triad.

  2. I don’t know why but these window paintings are very pleasant to look at. I too like the horizontal one best. Also, I’m impressed that you are using a limited palette. It makes traveling so much easier especially if you don’t carry 20 pounds of watercolor blocks around.

  3. I like the horizontal one best too. The others are sketchy but the horizontal is sure of itself. Like the way it is surrounded by paintings so that it looks like one itself. Philosophical you know.
