So……I was not happy with how this autumn scene finished so I decided to do more work on it. I took out the darkness of the trunk and some branches, lightened the intensity of the leaves and introduced more cerulean into the skyholes and the lake.
I did this on Yupo.
I really liked it but I had planned to put a leafy border on the top like the picture I had cropped. So I did that. And liked it better.
Then I started a portrait of guess who. This is just the beginning. Everything is in the correct place and now I have to make it art
The tree is lovely! Lightening the trunk brought out so much textural interest. I love the horizontal bands on the second painting. They give a sense of depth and calm to the scene. Greeta is beautiful—now just don't mess her up!
ReplyDeleteI liked the tree before, and now I like it better, rounder, firmer, and more tightly packed. That other painting is like Chinese painting totally abstract but representing a real thing. And yeah, don't mess with Greeta,
ReplyDeleteLove your leaf calligraphy in both paintings. The second one is especially evocative. I remember trying to paint a smiling portrait of my daughter in law. I painted it four or five times and never got it right. I asked Pat why it was so hard & she said “People don’t smile like that in real life —only in photographs.” Good luck with this one!
