I'm calling this finished...a finished study, anyway. Sigh! I was quite happy last week and now I'm second guessing my choices. Not the colors—I love those. But I wonder about other things like: Should I have made both their little outfits the same color? Should I have gone darker on their faces? On the background? Should I have cropped in? Widened out? I'll need to think a bit, but I think I'll be revisiting this.

I love the colors too. The little guy looks like he’s in his 40’s with a little beard. And the left side is weird. The urn is on the same plane as the boys and I can’t tell if something is growing out of that urn or it’s a shrub in back. The blue boy looks great and the clothes are the best. Love the watercolory background.

ReplyDeleteYou may be suffering from the National Geographic syndrome. That photo is just soo strong.
ReplyDeleteThe color choices are spot on imo and recreate the sepia feel of the original photo. I think it’s worth doing another version that is a little more confident.
