Alan trying fall trees

 Here’s a watercolor on 140 that I was not really happy with. 



I like the far shore and the yellows but I’m not happy about the reds. 

The next is also on cold press.  I spent more time on the individual leaves.


I liked it better especially the little branch sprouting out of the broken branch.

It was a helluva fall

  1. It really was an incredible fall. And you captured the vibrance of the changing leaf colors--something that's not easy to do. I like the way you used the foreground tree trunks to add distance and frame the scene.

  2. I like them both, but I like the first one better. The tree trunks and branches seemed more integrated into the rest of the painting.

  3. Strangely, I agree with Ken, the first one just has more of a painterly feel, imo. And more luscious yellows…
