Leaving for Michigan tomorrow and just wanted to post before I left. Finished Sasha - I really like it, too bad I didn’t take a better pic. She’s about 5 x 9. Worked on the girls a bit, probably a good idea to let them sit. It looks proportionaly odd but I did trace them so not sure if that’s a just their pose or what. Not sure about the background. Thinking blue bubbles instead of multicolored ones, or maybe just a blue wash….
I really like Sasha, too. You may have a new specialty as a pet portraitist. You get a sense of the dog's personality. I'm not sure what you feel is proportionally odd about the girls. Quinn is just right, I think. Nora's face may seem a touch long because of the angle of the reference photo, but it's not unbelievable. The way she's holding her sister is absolutely perfect.
ReplyDeleteI like the dog too. I like the black and white of his wiry fur. the tongue lolling, his resolute gaze out the door, and the gentleness of his paws.

ReplyDeleteSasha can't get any better (except for the photograph...) The bodice looks a bit odd on the girls. A tad to definite or dark. But as you said, it's early days.
