I'm calling this finished! It's Monet's water lily pond as seen from a wisteria covered bridge. Although it appears less gray, wintery and rain-soaked than the day I visited, it has the lush, verdant feel I remember. So, I'm happy with it.

And now, on to something else. Fair warning, though—I suspect I'm still not finished with memories of France.
I have nothing to say but that it’s lovely. The use of the dark greens (maybe Indigo) to the shoreline and the reflections-all good.
ReplyDeleteAgree, this is lovely— and it looks even better in person. The values and colors are just right all around. And the water is perfect. Time to cut the mat and frame it!
ReplyDeleteYeah this is great, the colors, the composition, the whole shebang. On a technical note what did you do to get the greens so dark? In the barn I leaned heavily on perylene green which worked well enough for what I was doing on the barn, but it seemed kind of crude, like using black paint.
ReplyDeleteThe dark greens are ultramarine blue and lemon yellow...heavier on the ultramarine. Sometimes I also add some hookers green or a touch of alizarin crimson to darken.
DeleteJust beautiful. It's been lovely watching it slowly come into view. Well done, Elaine
ReplyDeleteLovely.
