Here are my two building paintings. The top one I did in class and finished at home. Even though the blue and green colors are repeated on the couch and pillow, I think it kind of works..I don’t know why. Not crazy about that jaunty angle of the sofa.
The bottom one, I like the right window and the couch and pillow. I think Im doing another one of these.
I think that the tree on the right needs to extend so that it doesn’t stop before the window frame.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you that the color works on the top one. Expanding that green and blue gives a calm consistency. The angle of the sofa doesn't bother me one bit. I like the idea of reflecting the lamp in the bottom one. Maybe it just needs to be smearier and have a bit of the outside showing through to read more like a reflection. The two windows seem very different. Left seems autumnal and the right feels more like spring/summer. I think this would be great if the windows had a more similar view/value/saturation.
ReplyDeleteI like the sofa in the first one. It steals the show from the view out the window. I think you should try a sofa series.
ReplyDeleteI gotta say, I find it hard to see the painting without cropping them on each side with my hands. Can't you please honor your work by taking better photos? Honestly, I just automatically did it again to be able to look at each one. I think the first one works well other than that. The second one is much harder to see with the edges crooked and the bottom curled. But I think I find it confusing anyway. The values and the colors seem to hop around and the lamp out the window just doesn't work yet.
