August 18, 2023 — Elaine O.

I'm about halfway finished, but even at this stage, I'm happy with the composition and the palette. And while rough paper may not be the best choice for faces, I like these. My original intent was to get the feel of a squintingly bright summer day, even though the subjects were heavily shadowed. I think I'm getting there. Now, I only hope I don't go too far!

I'm still using up my Arches block with the water-stained end.  I forgot how much I like rough paper...and Arches. I can see my wish list expanding again!

  1. Oh yeah, I love this one. I like her windblown hair, and the choppy water, and those trees are dancing in the breeze. Like all that orange too.

  2. I love it too! Great composition and use of color — love that sliver of blue lake between the orange life jackets…

  4. I think it looks good with their faces not filled in. I imagine you will fill them in later, but I am urging you to be minimal about it.
