I'm happy with how this finished painting fulfills my intent. I wanted to capture my initial impression, especially the inside/outside contrast and the sense of cozy tranquility the dimly lit room gives off. I think I've done that. Even the sketchiness adds to the immediacy. At any rate, I'm calling it finished! It feels like I remembered it.

I like the overall composition of this one better than the old one. Lights and darks and all that. Better sense of place. But I liked the foliage more on the one before.
ReplyDeleteI'm with Alan on all of the indoors and I see the flow of light from the window, but the leaves just don't look like they are outdoors. But the whole inside looks like it is carved from red sandstone. Cool.
