elaine t, June 6

I started a Killing Eve montage. I'm having a lot of fun with it; maybe I'll follow up with some action shots of Villanelle for the next project.

(for those not familiar with the show: "Eve Polastri is a British intelligence investigator tasked with capturing the creatively psychopathic assassin Villanelle." They become increasingly fascinated and attracted to one another. Oh, there is SO much more to it...)

Here we have (clockwise from top) Eve Polastri, Carolyn Martens (Eve's boss at MI6), Konstantin Vasiliev (Villanelle's handler and Carolyn's former lover), and Villanelle.

  1. whoa, now that's a story line. And a great quadruple portrait, thus far. Both will surely keep your focus away from "things."

  2. Oh this is a killer. Popped right at me. Reminds me of those paperback covers of like 30 years ago. I have this roku thing and I can access AMC, but they only offer the third season. Could I just start there or would that ruin it?

    1. I think you definitely need to start from the beginning. If you have Amazon Prime you can buy the series. It's definitely worth it IMO! It's as much about the gradual unraveling of Eve's psyche as it is a black comedy spy thriller. Plus there are a lot of secondary storylines that play into the main plot.

  3. It's even better than I'd hoped! You've got Eve and Villanelle perfectly and I see the other two already. I saw a PortraitArtist of the Year episode where Jody Comer was the sitter. I remember thinking she was difficult to paint as she's so young and pretty. You did great and I love the idea of a Villanelle action sequence. That would be so cool and you have so many great options.

  4. Beautiful start! I love her hair. Is that Sandra Oh from Grays Anatomy? I’ve been trying to find this show for free. I think you can get a free month trial on Hulu & watch it there. Back to your painting... Are you us using paint straight from the tube? Almost looks like oil. Great work.

    1. I'm using diluted colors, but I'm mostly sticking to transparent ones that let me build up layers. I have to work a bit then leave the work to dry thoroughly before I start the next session so the paper doesn't start to pill.

    3. And for Harry Potter fans, Carolyn is played by Fiona Shaw, who played Harry's Aunt Petunia; Carolyn's supervisor is played by Madame Hooch, the broom flying instructor at Hogwart's (Zoƫ Wanamaker).
