Big Cat Seven

This is a leopard.  I did a very close cropping so that I could make it more abstract.

  1. This is incredible! That eye is beautifully realistic and the fur is so nicely textured and abstracted. This may well be my favorite of the series... so far, at least.

  2. Wow! You really captured the depth and color of the eye. And the dot pattern! Great work...

  3. It almost looks like the shape of an owl at this stage, especially with that big, dramatic eye.

  4. The eye is beautiful! So deep and mysterious... Interesting how (to me at least) the cloe-cropped abstract feel actually makes it more realistic.

  5. I've had to put the eye in in several stages because I have to water down the whole thing so that the colors will blend softly. I've been doing that first in my sessions and then never going back to it that day so it could dry thoroughly so I could put a new layer over it. In the photo the shade on top of the eye is much darker and that is what I was originally aiming for. There were still a couple layers to go on, and I did not originally want that granulation at the top. But but you know I looked away from it and then looked back and it looked pretty good. Not sure why. just the way it turned out, and now I think I will leave it just the way it is.

You come across a lot of bad breaks slopping on the paint, but sometimes you get lucky.
