Another travel painting! No, it's not nearly as exotic as Europe, but this is representative of Illinois farmland, as seen on a recent trip to Decatur. I may have to revisit the sky to get the impending storm more accurately, but I'm happy. I especially like the Harvestore silos—they are so iconic, aren't they?

  1. Very pleasant view of the rich farmland of the great state of Illinois. Was the photo taken on a Sunday morning, tennish, oh I bet it was. I remember seeing those farmouses so often riding the Illinois Central between Chicago and Champaign on a winter night, just a dimly lit window and the dull smear of out buildings in an empty sea of snow on a cold dark night and so far away it would just tear your heart out.

    1. Very good! It WAS a Sunday but closer to 2 or 3 in the afternoon. The light is a little deceptive because it was getting ready to storm, so it had that hazy morning feel.
