I spent a little more time on this self portrait on Yupo. I think it’s done unless I want to add more lines to my face.
Finished the barrel painting on Yupo. I thought that it was the perfect medium for this. I finally got the technique for painting the reflected leaves down. Made it more fun than work.
Back to 140# Rough for this painting of a corner of New Buffalo. Even though it’s structurally precise, I’m going to try to paint as loose as I can.

Love the barrels. No need to do anything more to that self-portrait. It's fine as it is! Maybe a light orange or coral for the floral background? It's analagous and would bring out the center of the flowers, complement the vase and contrast with the petals and leaves.
ReplyDeleteArt deco Alan, looking sharp. Whatever you have been doing with it you have taken it to the best form. The barrels turned out very well and nice contrast between the rough hewn barrels and the pretty flowers in their circle of sky. I was a little confused with the upper left. It looked like the top barrel was showing through the barrels in front of it, but actually it is the reflection of the tops of those barrels. Nice little puzzle. I would have liked to see the painting of your hood with maybe a comment or two from you.
ReplyDeleteNoBody needs to add more lines to their face! The portrait is great - like the color combo and how you painted the shirt.
