These two are coming along. Doing a little boob reconstruction surgery right now. I just love the color on his leg….
These two kids are done I think. They have had it and so have I. Maybe her hair needs a few flyaways so it doesn’t look like a wig. It’s a weird painting but pretty successful for painting on hot press.
Ken said the flowers didn’t really pop in the top one, and that’s what I was really interested in, so I made them the star in the bottom one. But the avocados kind of steal the show…
(And I’m whining b/c I’ve had a cold for three weeks and I just can’t shake it…)

You're right about his knee—also his shoulder and head. Really nicely painted! Those kids are a bit weird, but in a very cool way. There's a strange Hopper-esque or surreal quality to them and the way they interact with each other and their surroundings. Very interesting painting. Both of the still life paintings are also cool—they have the solidity and the geometry of Cezanne. And that pink shadow on the bottom avocados makes it!
ReplyDeleteAnd those double portraits definitely look like they belong together. Especially the before and after girls. They even have the same color haircuts (and hair)! And so glad the kids become happier as they get older. I'm also enjoying the evolution of the still life paintings. I especially like the last one and how it takes you in.
ReplyDeleteYou have really captured how much fun the adults are having! Maybe too much…maybe kids are pouting about that. The guy steals the show in spite of those boobs.
ReplyDeleteThey looked seedier before. I miss that. But the kids are edgier than ever. I miss that house with the attic window with the gaze as blank and pitiless as the sun in the second painting.
ReplyDeleteGuy does steal the show——-almost. I’m blinded by teeth and boobs. Have a little trouble with the perspective on the plate but I like the flowers and the whole composition. Nice light but I miss the rooftop in the last one.
