Mr Eclectic

5x7 just some ordinary vegetation. a cool bush in Lurie Park.

Added that winter coneflower to give it some depth and to counterbalance the march of the trees on the hill, still 9x12.

5x7 another kitty cat, needs more work, trying to keep it spontaneous.

  1. I like the addition of the coneflower. It both fills and adds space and I find that intriguing. Also, I already like that cat--I'm interested to see where it goes but hopeful that it doesn't go too ditsy! Are you finished with the bush? I like the way you can feel the sun shining through because the top left leaves are lighter, warmer and brighter than the bottom right. Maybe more of that--but again, not too much!

  2. I like the detail on the head of the coneflower. It echoes that line of trees. Not sure about all that stuff in between but there is something compelling about this painting. Do we start class this week? I need some time to paint…

    1. What? 6 wks. off isn't enough for you? Good thing class starts so you can get some painting done...

  4. At least the first one is still airy, dappled and not dit-dit-dit. The landscape does look more interesting with the added flower right up front. A good addition. Your cat painting is coming along, maybe adding a mouth...

  5. One of my joys with Yupo is cutting a clean line through the clutter which you’ve done nicely in the landscape.
