Spring colors…

In class I started the “good” portrait.  I’m Working on hot press, not sure if it’s going to be my friend…

I started this little quick sketch in class and finished it at home. It doesn’t quite have the drama of the previous window sketch —see last post—but overall it’s a more interesting painting imo, however the darks need to be darker to make it pop. I’m going to do another version of this —cause I think I have a frame this size…!

  1. Interesting texture on the hot press paper! So far, it seems to like you. Love the sketch. Great subject. Love the natural way the legs are propping up the tablet, the glint of the watch and the way the screen lights up the glasses. Not to mention the lovely view beyond him. This might need to be a "good" painting.

  2. Like that big old mop of yellow hair. As I recall the paintings were kind of mystical. I recommend fuzzing it up a bit. And you know how I feel about people in paintings. Perfectly interesting room except for (no offense) Joe. People aren't going to look at spring banging on the window, they are going to be wondering if he is watching The White Lotus on that itty bitty screen.

  3. Nice sketch of the upcoming "good" painting. The window with Joe ignoring it sketch will need some work balancing everything out for the "good" painting. But why not?

  4. Love the beginning of the girl. Nice to see someone in the room we all know so well.
