Still life—who knew inanimate objects could be so interesting? Anyway, I've been working along and here's where I am now, with only a few bits to go. I do have some thoughts—about the painting and the process—but I'll wait until I'm actually finished to share them as they may change.

Meanwhile, I've (finally) finished my Paris sketchbook. 60 pages of memories!

Merry Christmas one and all!
I liked it before but I like it even better with the cloth underneath the bowls.
ReplyDeleteI liked it better without the cloth. There was something stark and clean that I liked. Now there’s too much color and it takes away from that lovely apricot color and the counter reflections.
ReplyDeleteDid like the addition of that dark marble counter to enable the reflections from the other content. Gotta love still life.
ReplyDeleteI wonder what you're going to do with it? I really like the dark table top and it's reflections which are totally unexpected. I don't know about the orange cloth and the orange-yellow background yet. But we shall see. Your Paris sketchbook, on the other hand, is most intriguing since you have it shown closed and we can't see all the goods inside. hmmm.
ReplyDeleteLove this composition and the reflections on the marble. It is both simple and complex.
ReplyDeleteThe reflections are great, as are the bowls and fruit. I would change the color of the cloth and add a pattern to it. Maybe make it blue with a swirly pattern.
ReplyDeleteI was thinking exactly the same thing--changing the cloth to blue!
