July 27, 2013

School's out for summer! Actually, we're a little sad about it....we do enjoy painting together. As you can see, this was the week of "the egg"—one of our favorites. The assignment is to draw an egg...a plain white egg. Not a brown egg. Not an Easter egg. Not a cracked egg. Just an egg! See how well everyone did. Afterward, you'll see  the logical outcome...a bird (okay, not a chicken, but still, a bird)

We also love drawing. You'll notice some pencil sketch studies as you go through our paintings. And we had so much success last year with our Summer Sketching Saturdays that we're going to repeat them. Keep reading for your invitation. It's free and everyone's invited. Read on!

You're invited! Throughout August, we'll be meeting at Graceland Cemetery for some casual cemetery sketching. And you're invited! Meet at the Clark and Irving Park at ten and go out and draw Graceland cemetery. Everybody welcome.

Oh, and one more thing....while summer is winding down and we're looking forward to fall classes, why not consider joining or supporting our own Steve M. in this fall's Out of the Darkness Community Walk?

The walk takes place near the end of October to benefit the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. If you can't walk, consider a 100% tax deductible donation. You can donate online (it's safe and easy!) by:
  • going to www.outofthedarkness.org Find the fund raising page by entering "Steve Meyer" in the search box or get to the team page by entering "Ed O'Brien's Crew Members"
  • clicking here: Support Steve!
