Since last year, my husband and I go on a monthly mani and pedi procedure at our Andersonville nail salon. The mid month date is a healthy appointment to maintain my partner's lower extremities as a requirement of his diabetic type 2 status. I painted this to reflect on a lifestyle of 2 retired senior immigrants, which I never dreamed of doing when I was just a teenager in warm Philippines. The impact of our photo on my fellow instagram circle was positive: " a bonding moment", for most of the comments. The shirts and hairstyles of our 2 nail technicians are just a byproduct of my traveling imagination! Happy Painting to All!

Lovely colors and a nice composition. Until I get my back straightened out, I was forced into getting pedicures too. It really amused the women in “Mary’s Hot Nails” to see an older man getting pedicures. I loved it although it tickled.
ReplyDeleteI really like the composition on this. It would also be a good diptych. And the hair on the nail techs is brilliant!
ReplyDeleteI also like the composition. It's like one of those puzzlers like how many squares do you see in this diagram? You got you and your pedi person, hubby and his pedi person, you and hubby, a happily married couple, and the two pedi persons who are working at the same job. That makes 4, and 4 is a square number! And if that wasn't enough, how about those little carrots running down the shirt?
ReplyDeleteIt really is a fun picture to look at.
ReplyDeleteLove the composition and the nail techs’ hair and clothes. And I love that Tony’s hat says Ynot, as in “Why not get a pedicure?”
