It was a day for celebrating—Ken's birthday (thanks for the delicious cookies!) and Sara's new grandbaby—not to mention finishing a painting and a pad of paper. I like the ceramic pitcher and feel as if I've (finally) gotten the sense of the dragonfruit, so I can move on to other produce with my head held high. There's a lot to like about still life painting, isn't there?

All the elements look great and I love the colors. Adding shading to the cloth made it more balanced for me. But I still think it’s too “backheavy” (is that a word? Spellchecker didn’t like it).
ReplyDeleteThe noble pitcher, the snarling dragon fruit, the merry little band of many colors, and the mysterious reflecting holder of spoons. And then that big yellow green desert. I would never have the courage to let that be, but you have and it looks just fine.
ReplyDeleteAnother great still life, Elaine. Colors, composition and so unusual too. Just striking.
ReplyDeleteReally well done. Time to move on to something harder…!
