It's a new year and I think I've started a new series. Here's yet another still life—this time, I made the entire background cool and blue with the intent of making the clementines pop.
Yes, the clementines do pop! Love the use of different blues around them. Not exactly sure what that is in the corner—an appliance? The shape is not distracting, but the little details are. Otherwise it’s a beautiful composition beautifully painted!
I like this new series of still life paintings. I'm used to seeing great Elaine portraits, landscapes and buildings. It's very dynamic with the diagonal direction the eye takes from left bottom to upper right top, the high value contrast and the complementary colors. It's also cool seeing how you're using the same elements in different settings to create a totally new scene.
And…..they do.

ReplyDeleteWell this is good too. but maybe too blue for me. I like the orange cloth better. Also I liked the lower angle on that one.
