So I’m really working on wet into wet color mixing on the paper because I’m reading one of Hazel Soan’s books and she says it’s the secret to vibrant watercolors. It’s all about the ratio of pigment to water. So far I like the arm of the chair best…

DeleteI love this bare, spare, little fellow reaching his arms in suppliance into a cold uncaring sky, But I wish those two trim lines were not so clean and strong. I would rough them up a bit.
ReplyDeleteI like the window framing. I don’t like it when straight lines are all squiggly. I also like the color mixing on the right side wall. All you need to do is finish off that background building and put a little more work in the small tree.
ReplyDeleteLove the colors in the drapes…is this reminding me of Sargent’s backgrounds? And I’m going to look up Hazel. Don’t I need another watercolor book?
ReplyDeleteIt's working well for you! I really love the way the colors sing on what would otherwise be flat expanses of color. And I love the way the view out the window and the tree are framed by these expanses, and they remain so clear, soft and minimal.
