I'm calling this finished. I wanted to go all-out technicolor to match the dragonfruit. I also wanted to have some fun with the composition and the curation of objects. I think the colors are bright and varied and I'm happy with the composition. Even the objects work for me. (Originally, my plan was to only include the dragonfruit, the cloth and the plastic toy, but I liked the colors in the background, so I kept them, and I'm glad I did.) However.... I wonder if I've taken it one step too far?

I foresee a trip to the fruit store for me as I'm still enjoying painting still lifes—and eating them!
Very well done, a symphony of colors, love that yellow wall. But something bothered me. Aligned a ruler along with the edge between table top and wall and noticed that a little slice of tabletop should be seen on the right.
ReplyDeleteIt might be easier to to make the table slant down towards the right.
DeleteDarn, you're right! That table top IS off! I'll have to see what I can do about it.
DeleteI chose to ignore the table top. Picky, picky. Love the dragon fruit and the crazy composition. I don’t know what the inside of the fruit looks like but it looks unfinished to me. What’s it taste like?
ReplyDeleteThe inside of the fruit is a gray/white with little black seeds. It's a nice contrast to the outside, but it doesn't rise to the level of the outside. As for the taste? Meh. Much more bland than you'd expect from the outside and the name.
DeleteYeah, the table top thing is not worth the mentioning and certainly not a problem. A great composition with amazing colors. I wonder what the title will be?
ReplyDeleteI'm always open to suggestions!
DeleteLove all the textures and colors against the broad expanse of the counter and wall.
ReplyDeleteThinking about it, I would replace the open fruit with one or two unopened ones. You did such a great job on the regular half hidden one that I’d like to see more.
