That little upper triangle was not much liked by my Panel of Experts because it diverted their attention. I was thinking that I wanted it some different color than green to show the gap between two fronds and to affirm its leafness, But how important was its leafness if it was usurping attention? Not much I decided.
This is a cropping of a photo of a big catalpa tree in the beer garden of the Ten Cat on the night of November 20, 2015. What attracted me to the photo was its broodiness, which got lost as the painting proceeded, but shit happens no? Not quite finished.
Again, these are more spectacular in person--especially the glow of the light through the leaf. Also, some of the beauty of the brushstrokes in the tree painting seem lost on screen. So, I'm saying how much I like them based on the in-person viewing--and I do like them! Removing the blue triangle worked well and I'm looking forward to the rest of the tree. Keep that paint flowing! It's what Yupo is good at.
ReplyDeleteI think the actual looks better too. The original photo comes out not so hot and then I tweak it to make it looks more like what what it actually looks like. I never had this problem before yupo and I am wondering if its shininess overpowers very light colors. I will await the advice of The Yupo Master.
DeletePointillism on Yupo. In the trees you’ve shown what I think Yupo does best.
ReplyDeleteThe green one is a masterpiece. The colors are incredible. The yellow one needs more branches imo. Why the gulf of yellow between the two trunks? The broodinessi in the branches …
ReplyDeleteWhat I can't get over is how different these look on the computer than how they looked during showtime. Unless you painted more on the trees with Yellow, they looked terrific in class and now look less so, especially that yellow background. It's so homogenized now. While everything looked rather rough and excited before and very Yupo.
