After getting my new hip,I couldn’t sit in one position for more than 10 minutes so I tried painting while standing-no go. But I’m ok now. So here are two paintings on cold press. The first is 9 X 12 and the second is 11 X 14.
I’d spend more time on the steps but I’ve scrubbed it out so many times that there’s not much paper left.
I did a small sketch of the view down my block at night of the corner gas station where I get my milk and Cheetos and decided to make it a full sized painting. I like the feel of it but I’d draw the bottom differently.
Glad to hear you're up and about--and painting! I like these, especially the nocturne. The city lights and the night sky are spot on and really feel like a well-lit city corner. You're quite brave to add so many cars at the bottom, too.

DeleteI think we have seen this house at the end of the sea before. Has a nice twilight look. And I like the touches of what I call Turner Red (from the movie where he puts that little touch of firetruck red on the buoy just before the judging of the masterworks) on the second one. But I think the tires are too round and too prominent. But cars are f***ing tough.
ReplyDeleteThat Turner movie, Mr Turner: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tn4zSR_5ioI at the 58 second mark.
DeleteI'm so glad to hear you're getting along much better with your new hip, Alan. The pale blue and golden yellow painting really does glow and I don't notice at all the scrubbed steps you've mentioned. One looks like a restful place to relax and the other like a real life bit of city life. Interesting how you make the city one looks mysterious with the dark sky and spectral lighting. The tree branches and the almost foggy looking atmosphere. The abundance of cars seem to turn it playful looking in my opinion and would be better left out or painted less distinctly.
