This is the way last week's coneflowers ended up.
This was kind of an experiment, I sloshed a lot of indigo and sepia on the yupo, let it dry a bit, blotted it, repeated that a couple times aiming for a sky vibe and only then thinking of what to do next, and this is what I did next.
Still loving these. The petals on the coneflowers are perfect—they feel a bit dried and shriveled—and the sky and cones haven't been overdone. And I love the feel of that last one. The sky is magnificent and the tree is so menacing. Feels ominous—like an episode of Stranger Things.
ReplyDeleteThe bottom one is beautifully painted as well as ominous. What l like about is the variation in the branches and those tall stems. The top one is beautifully painted as well, but those flowers and stems seem rigid and too alike compared with the wandering stems in the second painting. Great work on both though.
ReplyDeleteMy fav is the 2nd one. Spooky but cool. The overall composition is great with a circular vibe to it. Different colors and mark making than usual. And not all symmetrical. I like the top one too. Sky is magnificent. My only wish is that something was in front of the stems in the foreground, or that the weren't all standing in a straight line so that all the flowers weren't equidistant from each other.
