Coneflowers have been the Lords of the Lurie Gardens for the past two weeks, but they bow out early leaving their stalks waving like heads upon a stick.
I love those coneflower heads. You've certainly caught the feel of them. In fact, the texture on this entire painting is outstanding. It feels like impasto oil on board. I can feel the leaves and grasses and they all feel different and deliberate and not just pattern for its own sake. Excellent.
I think that this is the best Yupo you’ve done. I might like to see some more (or larger) of those lovely 5 petaled flowers in the midrange to kind of break up all the green.
