I’m too old to be this busy….

Well part of my problem is I think it’s Thursday instead of Wednesday…Whatever, I just unpacked my art bag from class on Saturday…totally forgot I had painted this mostly in class. I like the colors and the building detail, need a little more work on leaves and branches.

AAlso worked on this one, which I can’t seem to crop. Not sure about this…gotta go to exercise class…

  1. That first one is so lovely. That building detail and the soft shadow--in fact, the whole bottom half is perfect; all you need is to tweak the leaf canopy. I like the second one, too--different season, different time. I only wonder about where the lamp is casting that shadow. I'm guessing it's on the window, but I'm not sure it would do that if the light is outside. I could be wrong, though--I'm no experience in the physics of light.

  2. I like the first one, but I think the second has a problem with that lamp. As I recall it has a square lampshade, and the grey part is where the left side is picking up some light from the left, and the side facing the viewer is not catching that light so it is darker. I guess that is the way it is in the photo, but a viewer of the painting has no way to know that without having been told.

  3. Love the top 3/4 but don’t know why the tree trunk faded out so dramatically on the bottom.

  4. I luv the top painting. It reminds me a bit of Sargent. That shadowing, like him. It still needs some tweaking here and there, but it's nearly done. The 2nd one needs work on that dominate dark lamp. It's lampshade needs to be clarified. You can't tell it is actually square shaped and not rounded. I think showing that would help immensely. Then see if anything else is needed. You can do it, Sara! And stop skipping classes. We all miss you when you're not here!
