In progress

No trees I am afraid.  I love the flowing undulations of the Lurie Gardens.  Maybe too many different colors and maybe it could use some tall plants close up.

Tree is going to need some work to fit in, but I need to fill in more background to find out how that might work.

  1. Have I mentioned that I like your trees on Yupo series? That said, I think the first one is fine without a tree. I, too, like the undulating sea of grass. Maybe some of the areas could be softer and more blended (as contrasted with the sharp brushstrokes), but I like it. On the second one, I think it will be interesting to see that tree come in, especially if it has the personality of the reference. Carry on!

  2. I like the blue sky/water up top. Especially since it's a different color and different style brush stroke. The rest of the painting reminds me of that song "the ants going marching one x one, hurrah, hurrah. the ants go marching two x two, hurrah, hurrah." on to infinity. Changing scale in the forefront of the painting along with brush strokes/direction should help immensely. The tree painting looks like a good beginning and holds some drama to come.

  3. That tree holds great promise. But my eye is not entertained by the background…in the first painting I like the sky and that muddled blue green below it. If you’re going to go with those repeated undulations , you need more variation in color and value.
