Happy New Year! I didn't get a lot done this week either. I finished the painting of the first snow of the season (back in normal times) from the Washington and Wabash El platform. It was snowing softly; pretty, and not too cold —perfect winter weather.

And in a totally different palette, I had another go at the red door framed by autumn colors, this time in watercolor. Oddly enough, the leaves had just the right glow... until I added the buildings and street. I'll keep going and see if I can get it back.

  1. I like the mix of wavy and straight lines in the snow scene. And the blues and greys give it a wintry feel. The fall leaves look very glowy imo. The way you’re painting it is so different from the winter scene. Lots of luscious color!

  2. Been at that very spot hundreds of times. Very evocative and I love the man in the foreground. Those autumn colors are beautiful. I’ve tried this many times and can’t wait to see what’s next.

  3. That guy in the foreground is waiting on an Orange Line to Midway, just to stand at the end of that long hallway and watch the folks coming in from Florida and Arizona carrying some of that warm sun back with them. Then we will go home and shovel his walk.

Love the blobby way you did the Autumn leaves. Like the buildings in the background too. Waiting to see what comes into the middle. Is that where the red door is?

    1. Yes, exactly. That's where the red door goes.
