So this is my atelier these days while waiting for Amazon to deliver a new 6' long table, sometime late this week. All I can paint in this tiny space is 3x4's.
And here come the kitties.
And here they are, and actually they are here also, although they are still hidden away, casing the joint as it were.
I didn't do any kind of gridding or preliminary drawing and it shows, but if you put that aside I think they have a kind of casual air that lends them a kind of charm. That's what I think anyway.
Those cats are magnificent. Your subject matter, style and paper have come together in a perfect storm. Seriously, I think those cats are among the very best things you've done. I don't know that you need to grid anything. The way they appear out of the background, all fuzzy and catlike, is perfect, even if it's not precise. You've said exactly what needed to be said. I'm hoping to see more like these.
ReplyDeleteYes! Purrfect cat paintings. I agree with everything Elaine said.
ReplyDeleteOk. I’ve done the minimal space with my minimal paint kit which I showed in an earlier post. Like my plein aire set. Works fine.
ReplyDeleteGood trees with a nice Yupo background.
First cat looks great. I think that the second one needs to stand out from the background.
First cat gets u in the first glance and tells you who she (he) is. Like that you’ve left the bottom ambiguous letting me guess at the rest of her colors.
ReplyDeleteLovely kitties with attitude!
