Another version of the Émile painting. I like my brushwork and sunny skin highlights in this one, but I made his face a little cockeyed. 😖 Maybe third time will be the charm?
I may also go for a fourth version; I've been wanting to try a more graphic, posterized style that focuses on color rather than realism.

Another good one! I love the sun on his hair. And you've simplified the highlights and shadows in his face. It works beautifully. He looks so young and spontaneous. And I dont' see what's cockeyed about his face.
ReplyDeleteInteresting about the posterization. I've been thinking of simplification and posterization this week too. Do it! I want to get inspired and learn from what you do.
This guy looks great! The dark background makes him pop but it also competes for attention. Maybe try lightening Lon the edge so it isn’t so monolithic? He such a cutie!
ReplyDeleteIt's like he became more clearly in focus. And looks even more charming in the process. What a sweetie. You think the face is cockeyed? I guess you can never have too many Emiles, right?
