I think the dog stole the show. I may play around with this, but I’ve lost interest. The texture is in the back when it should be in the foreground and the values seem too similar.
This had much more value contrast in real life. The dog is great, as is the puddle and the little boy. Maybe adding more puddles down the path or in the grass would give the boy a story and make the viewer follow the puddle path? I think it's worth playing around with.
It’s nicely painted but the composition has a few issues. The gray thing to the left needs to go. It’s very distracting. I would put the dog a little ahead of the boy as if he’s waiting for him to catch up.
