May 16, 2026 — Elaine O.

I finished by populating my city street...and now I'm not sure if I made the right decision. But what's done is done. There are things I like (that street lamp, surprisingly) and things I might do differently another time (like using a ruler to eliminate some of the wobbly elements).

  1. Great painting. I like the lamppost too. And I like where you placed the people. They lead you across the wide sidewalk to the other side of the painting. Very clever composition!

  2. Well of course I don't approve of those carbon units, but then if you hadn't put them in you wouldn't know what it would look like with them. If you get a strong notion to do something do it just to see what happens.

  3. I love the addition of the people and I love the lamp post. But the giant lamp post and the ant sized people don’t seem to go together. Love the idea though.

  4. This was beyond challenging! Because I know what I know having spent so much of my life on those El platforms, it seems too bright and sunny to be Wabash or Wells. The El structure creates a lot of shadow which would fall on the sidewalk and connect it to the people. I can’t imagine dealing with the perspective here…kudos for handling it so well.
